If you’re agonizing over lost time and cell minutes while waiting on hold, previously mentioned LucyPhone eliminates that problem by waiting on hold for you. Now with their new iPhone app, circumventing the hold lines is all the more convenient.
LucyPhone’s web site is pretty straightforward: Search for a company you want to contact (or enter their phone number), enter your callback number, and LucyPhone calls you back when someone picks up on the other line. In some circumstances you may need to navigate through a customer service option tree, but as soon as you’ve finished navigating and are waiting on hold, you can press ** to disconnect the call. LucyPhone will know to call you back as soon as someone is available.
The iPhone app makes this process just a little bit easier since you can circumvent the web site and do everything directly from your mobile. You have four options: Find Company, Dial, Recent Calls and Settings. Find Company is what you’ll mostly use, searching LucyPhone’s directory for businesses they’re already aware of. Dial will let you dial any number as an alternative. Recent Calls will obviously show you your recent calls but also shows you how long you spent on the phone and how much time LucyPhone saved you.
The only unusual (and seemingly unnecessary) step with LucyPhone for iPhone is entering your callback number. It seems kind of strange to enter your callback number when you’re already on the phone. It’s nice to have the option available, but would be a bit nicer if LucyPhone filled in your mobile number for you and allowed you to change it. Overall, however, LucyPhone is pretty great, completely free, and available now in the App Store. For more information on using LucyPhone on any phone via their web site, check out our first look.”
